Contraptions (Contraption Zack) (1992, PC)

Contraptions (known as Contraption Zackin North America) is a puzzle game by British company Presage Software. It was published by Mindscape and was also released for Amiga.

Zack is the new guy among the workers of the Gadget Co. On his first day, the factory malfunctions and his boss orders him to fix it before the suits arrive. Unfortunately, his new colleagues had decided to play a prank on him by borrowing all his tools and hiding them in the factory. So before Zack can start fixing anything, he needs to find his tools.

The game uses an isometric perspective and switches between single screens. You need to make your way through the different screens to reach your tools and the machines. Gameplay consists of activating various switches and buttons. Switches and buttons of a certain colour usually raise of lower barriers of the same colour on the screen or somewhere near. Other buttons activate, for example, springboards which will catapult you over gaps. Timing is important, since many buttons switch back after a certain amount of time, so it is very easy to get trapped.
