Molding a Mask with Forged Carbon Fiber Fabric

Forged carbon fiber fabric is easy to work with and has a distinctive bold pattern not possible with other methods. It can be pieced together as needed for complex shapes and the seam lines will disappear into the random marbled pattern.

8:56 Cutting forged carbon fiber fabric with rotary cutter. Template includes multiple relief cuts and separate parts since the join lines will be invisible after laminating.
10:51 Placing forged carbon fiber fabric into mold with epoxy resin. Additional relief cuts added as needed to fit mold (invisible in final part). A woven twill carbon fiber backing is added for strength. Part cured in a vacuum bag.
12:45 Removing release fabric from cured part and popping mask out of mold.
