New Rhapsody (2016 update)
This is another composition that was uploaded to Vid.Me on August 21, 2017. It was first uploaded to BitChute on December 6, 2017, and had 257 views prior to the current re-upload.
This first upload of 'New Rhapsody' was put on YouTube back in July 14, 2012, which used the original recording of it from my senior year in college, back in 2003. That was done on an old HP Pavilion with a SoundBlaster AWE sound card with soundfont capabilities. Back then, Creative Labs was pretty much the company for all things music, especially for MIDI compositions. So, any time I could upgrade, I always went for the AWE, soundfont capable sound cards from Creative, as these were the best for any chance at halfway decent sounding wind and brass (though still not as good as the actual instruments). Even today, the VST instruments do ok, but they are by no means a replacement for the actual instruments - especially wind and brass. But, anyways, this is an argument to be had within the MIDI/synth community, and especially with those that seek to continue to improve the quality of the virtual instruments, so I'll leave it at that.
The 2016 update was first posted on YouTube back in August 16, 2016, then uploaded to Vid.me, as noted, a year later. It was the beginning of my journey to find a home channel to post my music on when I was getting wary and weary of the changes happening at YouTube. They had already irked me when they first exploited my music with failed monetization, and then, when I decided to give them a second shot a couple years later, they suddenly decided my content was not worth the time. So, fine, I'd just post because I love the music and want to share with whoever may decide they like what I compose. But, as I learned between 2016 and 2017, that YouTube was not merely snubbing people as a matter of bad taste on their part, but also because they didn't like a person's personal, religious, and political views, I decided it was time to find new avenues to try for sharing my music with the world. Thus is how I came upon Vid.Me, and now BitChute.
I had also put this piece in the #vidmejazzclub because there is a bit of a jazz movement in it. If there is any jazz community on Bitchute, or even contemporary composers - MIDI, notation, or otherwise - I'd love to join such communities here.
As noted, I first composed this in college around the early part of 2003. I consider it something of my magnum opus from my days at the university. I have yet to make any other instrumental piece to which I could say matches it, though I'd like to try. ;)

*Note: Because Vid.me is closing December 15, 2017, and deleting all the content uploaded from all content creators that used the platform, it's pointless to give a link to the Vid.me posting. Sad and pointless. :(
