It is the debut single by The Monkees, released August 16, 1966.

David Thomas Jones (Davy)(30 December 1945 – 29 February 2012).
Peter Halsten Thorkelson a.k.a. Peter Tork (February 13, 1942 – February 21, 2019).
Sue Stong wrote in a comment:
Peter Tork, has passed from this world. His fans where considered "Torkees". His paternal grandfather was of Norwegian descent, while his mother was of half German-Jewish and half Irish ancestry.
