The play was written in 1898 and it depicts a fictionalized account of the relationship between Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. At the height of the Roman Civil War, a young Cleopatra meets a middle-aged Julius Caesar, who teaches her how to rule Egypt. This is a film which is wordy rather than action oriented telling of the tale, with Caesar in a fatherly role, not lover.
