I built a Silver Slide using Neodymium N52 magnets a while back to help identify if a .999 Silver Coin or Round was genuine. This is not a fool-proof definitive method of determining a coin's authenticity, but it a quick way to eliminate a whole bunch of fake coins. This method uses the diamagnetic effect created when passing electrically conductive materials over a strong magnetic field. In order to determine a coin's authenticity, there are chemical, weight, and other methods that should be used. NEVER buy "genuine" silver on places like eBay. Always deal with a reputable dealer that specializes in bullion, coins, and precious metals.
