Leonardo Genio Universale
Audio Italian, with no subtitles.
From the RAI series "Ulysses: The pleasure of discovery" 2018.
The journey will begin in France, in Amboise, on the banks of the Loire, in the places where Leonardo Da Vinci spent the last years of his life. With Alberto Angela, immersing himself in Renaissance atmospheres, he will discover the genesis of many Leonardo's works and follow in his footsteps, trying to unravel the enigma of Leonardo: who was really that brilliant man who was an artist, scientist, engineer, painter, musician, sculptor and architect at the same time? From the manor that the King of France, Francis I, gave him, he then moved to Florence, where the young Leonardo went to shop with an exceptional master: Andrea dei Verrocchio, one of the most representative artists of his time. And, in this pearl of the Renaissance, Alberto Angela from his most famous museum, the Uffizi, will lead the public on a visit to the Sala Leonardo, where the first masterpieces of the Tuscan genius are exhibited.
From Florence to Milan: it is here that Leonardo lived for 17 years, from 1482, at the court of Ludovico il Moro. This environment, full of cultural ferment, was for him an inspiration for many works, one of all, the wonderful Cenacle. A work among the most visited in Italy, a symbol of the economic power of Milan at the time and of the cultural and artistic prosperity of a city that could compete, by culture, with Venice and Florence of the Renaissance. Among the many aspects of Leonardo Da Vinci's genius, he will discover his passion for music and, for the occasion, he will listen to a song, freely drawn from some of his compositions, through the interpretation of one of the most appreciated Italian singers of the moment: Giorgia.
