Ted Cruz attempted to block the Senate vote about the Affordable Care Act by lasting 21 hours and 19 minutes, calling to defund the health care bill that went into effect in March of 2010. He has also resorted to quotes from the A&E show Duck Dynasty and the song of the now-late Toby Keith song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue". Obamacare remains a thing popular among the American population.

In 2024, JD Vance read Seuss to block a bill that would fund Ukraine, Israel, and help keep Taiwan out of mainland China's hands. Republicans refused to cooperate as according to Utah's Mike Lee "We cannot send billions of dollars to Ukraine while America’s own borders are bleeding." However just before that, a bill with the strictest border control plan in bipartisan history was shot down due to Trump wanting it dead to run his re-election campaign on that wasn't revenge and saving his ass from the 91 criminal charges.
Both failed to reach the Senate's record held by Strom Thurmond of SC (D) who filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1957 for a solid day and 18 additional minutes that went in vain after it was passed and was signed into law. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strom_Thurmond_filibuster_of_the_Civil_Rights_Act_of_1957
