Composed in 1916 by Josef Dobes in the Klausenkaserne in Salzburg. Dedicated to its mayor Max Ott and premiered under the original title "Bürgermeistermarsch". The march was rededicated to the regimental commander of the Croatian IR.16, General of Infantry Artur Freiherr Giesl von Gieslingen, by higher order in 1916 or early 1917 and assigned to the IR.16 as a regimental and defensive march.
