We all make mistakes. One of my recent ones was not explaining the "Industrial Society and its Future" #Kaczynski / #Unabomber Manifesto Summary in enough detail and context to adequately explain WHY technology should or could be seen as Anything BUT the savior of mankind! We all grow up with technology, it is - in many ways - our nurturer, our babysitter, our source of entertainment and the source of our sense of safety, nostalgia, and earliest memories... How could anything THAT important to us be so bad?
⃝
..What if, by using #technology, we were all losing something we never knew we even had, losing skills and abilities, realities and futures that we never had to develop, never had a Chance or a Reason to develop: all the unexercised #freedom, unknown autonomies, unknowable real choices, the abandoned skills of creative thought, the unidentified core competencies, unexplored depths of potential dependence on others, a missing sense of our own strength and ability to entertain our selves by exploring and mastering the Real World - not some hollow simulation of it?
What if we could live a life so vibrant and exciting, access a reality so enriching and multifaceted that it was otherwise only experienced and represented in video games? How would we ever find out if living such a life outside in the real world was even possible if we continued staring eternally into the #blackmirror?
The question is this: what's faster for us to access and enjoy: Establishing an authentic community, a coalition, a family of complex and unique individuals with countless opinions and opportunities,
Or boot up a video game where we get to control everything and program each eventuality?
