The case occurred on the island of Torotama, in Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, one of the areas that is now under water. The horses were actually two mares, which endured the cold and hunger with great strength and resistance. But a group of volunteers saw them from a helicopter and went to the warehouse.

Both equines were taken to the mainland and then transferred to the care centers for veterinary care.
