Projekt Ikarus (1991, Amiga), part 1 [English commentary]

Projekt Ikarus (Project Ikarus) is sci-fi role-playing game, by Austrian developer HSC which was published by German company Data Becker. It was also planned to be released for Atari ST, but this version might not have been released. According to the credits, an English translation was made, but I do not know if it was released, either. The story is set in the 23rd century, when mankind is united and has set out into space. Unfortunately, they encounter a hostile alien race. The aliens attack am outpost on a remote planet. You take control of a party of trained specialists to get rid of the alien aggression.
The gameplay is reminiscent of SSI's Gold Box games. You have a small windows with a first-person view and walk field by field with 90 degree turns. Rooms are not furnished in any way, you only have text descriptions. Fortunately, the game has an automapping feature and even offers the feature to print out your map. Combat is turn-based and switches to a tactical screen. Like other sci-fi RPGs of the time, magic is replaced by psychic abilities.
