Higurashi Ch.4 (Pt 6): Neo Begins to Formulate Some Theories on Rika's True Nature
[BLIND LET'S PLAY]
Akasaka wakes up in Dr. Irie;s clinic after having passed out from his injuries from his skirmish with Toshiki's kidnappers, and Ooshi fills him in on what's happened: in short, they've succeeded in rescuing Toshiki. With Toshiki now in police custody, everyone feels they can finally rest easy, even though the perpetrators behind his kidnapping appeared to have gotten away. Akasaka then decides to try and call his wife to let her know the good news and that he'd be returning home very soon.
When he tries using the public phone in the clinic, he discovers that the cord has been cut in what appears to be a very deliberate fashion. However, unlike Neo, the alarm bells don't start ringing in Akasaka's head, and he decides to leave the clinic altogether to find another public phone to use, rather than use one of the clinic's office phones when a staff member offered him the chance to do so... because reasons. However, things get more ominous when EVERY SINGLE PHONE he comes across and tries to use is sabotaged in some fashion, from having the cords but to having their entire receiver destroyed. It is then that Akasaka notices that someone is watching him from the distance: Rika.
Deciding not to bother with Rika, Akasaka tries walking back to the clinic, but Rika follows him... and they start discussing all the events that have occurred over the past week, with Akasaka and Neo trying to piece everything together as they continue talking and seeing how Rika reacts to what Akasaka says. Eventually, the three of them find themselves not arriving at the clinic but the Furude Shrine, and it is here that Rika, alongside continuing their conversation on the week's events, gives Akasaka a series of predictions that will over over the next half decade... and they all accurately detail events Neo has heard about in the previous three chapters that lead up to the present day that the last three chapters take place during.
It is around this point that Neo begins seriously contemplating Rika's true nature, and how it, along with Rika herself, fits into the grander mystery surrounding all the mysterious deaths, disappearances and the so-called curse of Oyashiro-sama...
