Defending allies in high definition on a Saturn exclusive but forgotten flight simulator arcade gem. ...and man, does it look good, Ace Combat 2 and 3 be damned.
No, but seriously; have a look at that draw distance; then, at each single plane and how intricately modeled they are; but what about the unbelievable textures? ...and that shading, man; that sexy shading!
This is impressive stuff, and considering it came out in 1995? You gotta give the dev team some credit! This was quite early in the system's life too.
Now, admittedly, its gameplay is lacking a bit in depth; Game is simple enough for the player to pick up and cruise by; It's not particularly tiring, nor repetitive; mission objectives differ from one another and so does the scenery; but it is mechanically shallow, as there's not much else to it;
...it's quite unfortunate we never got a sequel, though; Wing Arms 2 would have rocked, I'm sure of it, and Ace Combat needed competition, cause competition is a good thing, and this early on, Wing Arms could have been it; I like Wing Arms; Wing Arms gets my aproval.
