Why "Flat Earth" has its origin in a misunderstanding of map-projection and esoteric knowledge

In this dated but uniquely insightful documentary, the late Richard L. Thompson (1947–2008), an American mathematician and arguably one of those rare geniuses that occasionally illuminate history, reveals that the ancient Vedic Indians in all likelihood were in possession of some astonishingly accurate knowledge of the Earth and our solar system. Not only did they stereographically project the globular Earth onto a plane surface in order to create a map on a two-dimensional surface, but they showed that they knew the approximate distance between the Earth and the Sun, Helios, and between the Earth and most of the planets (including Uranus). As mentioned earlier, the ancient Egyptians had also inherited such advanced geological and astronomical data, which they encoded into the architecture of the Great Pyramid at Giza. Where this knowledge originally came from is a question we will not go into here. The important lesson given to us in this documentary is that the ancient holy scriptures of India clearly demonstrate that the dimensions of the solar system and the planetary orbits were known thousands of years ago, and that they also indirectly show that the ancient vedantins were very aware of the spherical shape of Tellus.
