Lost in Space Goofs and Facts
Go back to the 1960's and find fun goofs, facts, and bloopers on the Irwin Allen television classic Lost in Space. The series was about a family named the Robinsons that were space pioneers. Lost in Space was ahead of it's time for special effects in sci-fi television, but thanks to HD screens we can now see a lot of special effects goofs that give us a picture of how many sci-fi elements were achieved on the show. Electrical cables and trolleys that carried the robot around can be seen. Dr. Smith masks are now very clear to us indicating Smith stand-ins for stunt work and sometimes the purpose of the stand-in was unclear. At other times, aliens and werewolves were betrayed by their shoes. Props like fake boulders weren't always as solid as they needed to be.
The TV series Lost in Space starred Guy Williams, June Lockhart, Bill Mumy, Jonathan Harris, Angela Cartwright, Mark Goddard, and Marta Kristen. The robot was voiced by Dick Tufeld and inside the suit was Bob May. May was very dedicated to his job and once when he fell down and got knocked out, he was more concerned about the robot than himself.
The show featured a lot of famous guest stars like Al Lewis from the Munsters, Ted Cassidy from the Addams Family, Robby the Robot and Michael Rennie from the sci-fi movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still".
