Amazon fire ‘lies’ are ‘designed to feed climate alarmist movement’

Sky News host Alan Jones says there are “lies of gold medal proportions” circulating about the fires in the Amazon rainforest that are “designed to feed the climate alarmist movement and the ABC”.

Mr Jones said claims that the Amazon provides 20 per cent of the world’s oxygen is “fake news” and that the figure is closer to six per cent.

He also pointed to NASA’s earth observatory which states that fire activity across the Amazon basin in 2019 has been close to the average of the last 15 years.

“As the lies gain momentum there are now reports across the world of protests at Brazilian embassies,” the broadcaster said, deeming the issue “green leftist nonsense designed to brainwash the public, especially gullible and naïve children”.
