This has been a topic I’d mulled over for a little while, and it’s something I started but didn’t get around to finishing until today. Based on a combination of how people act in public or IRL and how they act online (or on twitter) formed the basis by which I came to my conclusion. You’re free to disagree, it’s not true for everyone, obviously, but given my experiences and empirical evidence that can be plainly observed online and IRL, well, the Furry Fandom is slightly less accepting than it used to be a few years ago. But, it’s not really a new phenomena; it’s a cyclic thing that comes in ebbs and flows like the oceans waves, so there’s not really an easy definitive answer. It depends on a combination of varying factors.
People are going to bicker and argue about anything and everything under the sun, and that’s bound to create division between individuals and groups of individuals that agree or disagree about certain things. And, that’s honestly just fine, so long as things remain more or less civil. People say a lot of things, but to what extent they mean them is another question entirely. I’ve seen death threats and threats of violence, but thankfully, we don’t see too many people acting on them. But what drives someone to be so hateful and vitriolic that they go all out and try to ruin someone else’s life over a difference of opinion or over petty politics? It’s been an ongoing issue that doesn’t seem to see a clear resolution, though, people are steadily moving on with their lives and the hype is slowly dying down. This trend may not continue, as another major political or social event could take place that stimulates a response from the people in the fandom, and the cycle may repeat itself.
Either way, hope you enjoy the video, guys. Perhaps controversially, this will be the video I begin to roll out some of the platforms I’ve selected to receive donations going forwards. Didn’t come to the internet to strike it rich, but, every little bit helps me get..
