A 60’s Lament-by Bud Johnson
What happened to all the beautiful people?
Did they die out with an age?
They left the music with their dreams,
In a memory of days,
When love flowed through their veins,
It got them through the rain.
What happened to the love and sharing?
When people gave to all that cared,
Still many who care but no one to share,
No one dares show they care,
Yes, no one dares.
‘But I see a light that beckons to shine
I see a life that wants to live,
I see the love people can give.
I see a way that we can turn,
So don’t you be so afraid to learn,
Light your candle & let it burn.’
The sixties was a time that we can learn from,
Many mistakes were made,
But there was something there,
Something more than just long hair,
It left us bare.
(rep chorus)
Light your candle and let it burn,
Let it burn. ( repeat in choral)
