How would America like a 'direct democracy', where the people do the voting, directly?

In a direct democracy, the people represent themselves
We, the people, are never going to enact laws, such as the Patriot Act, laws that eviscerate the Bill of Rights, laws that we dislike
There is less chance for corruption with a direct democracy and lobbyists can take a hike
Other countries have a direct democracy and it appears to be working very, very well
The system we currently have, must have been created in hell
We need more than two 'bought and paid for, bribed or blackmailed' central banker voices
Americans are in need of more options, more preferential choices
Two wings, same bird and to the public, the parties appear to be split
But some of us don't like the look or feel of it and it smells like dog shit
The people don't like the way it feels, when they step into it and so the dog shit they oppose
Choosing the lesser of two evils is still evil and furthermore, they don't like the way it squishes between their toes
Voters come back from voting and stink up the whole house
A vote for either candidate, is the choosing of a louse
As soon as a pile of dog shit is dropped, here come the flies
