Video übernommen von Operation Fregin. - Die Jewish Claims Conference und Deutschland haben sich auf die Zahlung von zusätzlichen 75 Millionen Euro für Holocaustüberlebende geeinigt. Damit stehen der Organisation, die die Ansprüche jüdischer Opfer der Schoah gegen Deutschland geltend macht, im kommenden Jahr nach eigenen Angaben 480 Millionen Euro zur Verfügung.

Zusätzlich habe sich Deutschland verpflichtet, die Renten von 55.000 Holocaustüberlebenden in Zentral- und Osteuropa zu erhöhen. Auch sollen Menschen, die als Kinder die Schoah überlebt haben, in Zukunft leichter in den Genuß von Unterstützungsleistungen kommen.

Seit 1952 hat Deutschland nach Angaben der Zeitung mehr als 60 Milliarden Euro an Kompensationen an die Claims Conference überwiesen. Die Organisation verteilt diese Gelder unter anderem an häusliche Betreuungsdienste für NS-Opfer. Zudem verwaltet sie unterschiedliche Entschädigungsprogramme.
