Extreme alt-left Antifa paid traitor protesters clash with police on the streets of Bologna

Riot police were deployed in the Italian city of Bologna on Monday to contain protesters angry at the visit of the leader of the far-right Forza Nuova, Roberto Fiore. He was holding a rally ahead of the European parliamentary elections at Galvani square.

Anti-fascist activists tried to break through the police cordon but were stopped. Footage shows tensions ensuing as a flare was thrown at the police's line of defence.

Fiore, who has self-identified as a fascist in past statements, is seeking re-election to the European parliament in the vote taking place on May, 23-26.
