Bríd Smith calls protesters against the Global Compact on Migration fascist filth (Ireland)

People Before Profit TD Bríd Smith accused protesters opposed to the government's decision to sign the UN's Global Compact For Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration of being fascist, racist, nazis and filth who were whipping up exaggerated panic outside the Dáil on the night it debated a bill to expand the family reunification program. The bill had previously passed in the Seanad.

The Irish Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration David Stanton previously told the Dáil that before the old expanded Family Reunification program had been scrapped in 2015, one refugee had applied to bring in 70 of their family members. The average number per application was 20. This expanded programme had been in place since 1996.
