Austria: Antlass eggs remain white and are marked with a D (for Donnerstag). These eggs laid on Maundy Thursday were/are kept for the consecration of food (blessing of food). Antlass eggs are said to have protective powers, they are also considered to bring good luck and healing.
In Germany it was customary on Good Friday to put hen eggs to get more chicks; to lay eggs in the chimney to protect against lightning and fire blight; Good Friday eggs were also laid in gutters to protect against fire.
