For the first hundred years of Islam, the qibla (the direction of prayer) is oriented toward Petra, not Mecca, as seen from mosques of the period, in contradiction to the Islamic sources. This suggests the Islamic sources are a fabricated history. I introduce historical-critical method in the study of early Islam and introduce the viewer to some other anomalies. It is likely that the earliest biography of Muhammad, Ibn Ishaq, is a fraud. I also provide some bibliographic resources for study.
