what is it to journey through you know the title of your book Chapel perilous what he called the chapel perilous to have that experience that whatever that to go through the spiritual Crucible and then this place he ended up on the other side which is the intellectual hijinks and pranksterism and discordian church and operation mindfuck. I mean so maybe we start with the serious I mean a lot of people ask me you know whenever they interview me about Bob or my experience oh so so what is tell me what is the chapel perilous and it's like every time

I ended up I end up saying something really different which is probably really appropriate to the chapel perilous but because you're going to have to do it um pretty soon when you release your book I mean what is a chapel perilous and what did Bob mean that's a great question and and I completely empathize with the answers different every time
well it's a term that he borrowed from two sources probably T.S eliot's poem The Wasteland and then T.S Eliot borrowed the concept from British folklorist named Jesse Weston who published a book in the 20s which I forgetting the name of that book at the moment but the subject of the book though that Weston wrote was all about the King Arthur stories and basically the Grail romances and the search for the Holy Grail and she looked at the poems obviously the Epic poems from like the 1500s 1400s all about King Arthur and the search for the Holy Grail and What Weston ended up doing was determining that these stories were all about like an initiation but not just being initiated and going through the Journey it's about preparing for an initiation and and so oftentimes the heroes and heroines of these Grail romances they're looking for the Holy Gr..
