Pandemics - A Threat to Human Lives & Human Rights

I am a firm believer that public services like hospitals and state run quarantines are amongst the worst place to be in the time of a pandemic. It's certainly the last place I want to end up. As we watch the public good being enforced in China it makes me wonder how it's going to go down in Canada when the time comes. As our neighbours in the US erect quarantine facilities at airports, in the UK it has now been legislated that police can enter the home of anyone suspected of having the coronavirus, it's clear dangerous times lie ahead. They can shut down neighbourhoods, interning them and our obvious extension tells me it's something that Canadians need to think about.

It brought me back to the G20 in Toronto in 2010 and how security went down there. It was the first time I had encountered the energy of the UN and it made quite an impression as to how the public good was enforced with brut force and violence against law abiding Canadian citizens. This experience makes me fear what the enforcement of the public good will look like when it becomes a "necessity".

A pandemic is not only a threat to human life, it's also a threat to our human rights. We cover a lot of ground but today as you follow the method to my madness, you will learn why public health will not be part of my pandemic plan and why I'm creating a case for self quarantine.
