Today, over Kramatorsk, local residents noticed tiny little objects descending on parachutes. These are small bomblets to be precise (10Kg). These are the remnants of a triggered self-aiming combat element SPBE "Motiv-3".
The principle of operation is simple: the infrared receiver of thermal radiation "searches" the target by heat, using highly sensitive optoelectronic equipment. After finding the target, a 4.5kg shaped charge is triggered on it, burning through the armour of a tank or infantry fighting vehicle.
They can be used both by aircraft, using them as part of the RBK-250/500 cluster bomb, and by the Smerch MLRS. In the latest photographs, the remnants of these munitions found in Syria show both the characteristic parachute and the same characteristic "cylinder" that contains the computing equipment and the warhead.
The video below shows the charges propelling themselves straight into terrorist vehicles and positions in Syria.
