RTÉ framed the report on three small schools becoming multi-denominational as "making history". The report focused on Scoil An Ghleanna in the Gaeltacht area of Baile An Sceilg Cill Airne, Co Kerry.
Previously Catholic-run Lecarrow School in County Roscommon, and Tahilla National School also in Kerry will both also reopen this week as multi-denominational Community National schools.
RTÉ interviewed a Catholic mother, a non-religious mother, the school principle and Fr Patsy Glynn, the parish priest who were all delighted with the move.
One third of the school children are non-Catholic and the school says they hope to attract more pupils as a result of becoming multi-denominational.
The report included a typo when the acting school principle Sorcha Ní Chatáin was interviewed naming the school as "Scoil And Ghleanna".
