In this video, I discuss whether Bitcoin should add a tail emission, both to secure the network after the last few sats are mined-- and also to mitigate against future Bitcoin scarcity caused by hoarding.
I conclude that changing Bitcoin's monetary policy would undermine Bitcoin's historical consistency and programmatic monetary policy, much as Ethereum has done, by changing both its consensus mechanism and its monetary policy often.
It's impossible to have "ultra-sound money" if your future monetary policy is variable or unknown.
Future hoarding should not be a problem, as we see with traditional assets like beach real estate, precious metals, etc. which are scarce and yet always available-- albeit at a high price, just like Bitcoin should achieve.
Lastly, Bitcoin has a higher hash rate and better global brand than any other proof of work competitors like Dogecoin.
Once you understand that proof of stake leads inevitably to your coin becoming captured, you realize that Bitcoin has already won the race before it's even over.
