Let's Play Tales From the Borderlands Ep. 1 Zer0 Sum - Part 1 - Prologue

Good to be back on the universe's most god forsaken dust ball of a planet, but that's what's to love about Pandora. My goal for this Let's Play is to get all six selectable Vault Hunters available by the 5th episode. We begin with our protagonist, a corporate raider named Rhys, tracking a signal of some sort while looking for a woman named Fiona. He's knocked out, tied up and dragged away by a mysterious merc. The merc interrogates him about something called the Gortys Project. We flashback to when Rhys was an employee of the Hyperion Corporation. Hyperion has been in a power vacuum since Handsome Jack died and everyone is looking to climb the company's corporate ladder. Rhys is up for a promotion and is going to use it to help his friends Vaughn and Yvette move up as well. He enters the office of Henderson, his boss, only to find Hugo Vasquez in his seat. Vasquez recently promoted himself to Henderson's position and had him shot out the airlock. He discusses Rhys' promotion, but gets sidetracked by a phone call from a man named August. Rhys discovers Vasquez has a business deal for a vault key, but he needs ten million dollars to close it, money he's having trouble securing. When the call is finished, the conversation about Rhys' promotion resumes. He promotes him to janitor which pisses him off. Rhys plots to screw over Vasquez by getting the vault key before he does. Vaughn gets the ten million dollars with ease because he's an accountant and Yvette gets Rhys the transportation by taking Vasquez' company car. Rhys and Vaughn land on Pandora and have a relaxing drive towards the town where the deal is taking place. They run over a Skag and Vaughn starts getting squeamish about the whole operation. Rhys calms him down and the two drive into town.
