We often hear that the US spends too much on military. As a matter of fact, when talking about trimming the budget, too often that is the first thing brought up. But that doesn't make sense.

Some people are under the impression that half of the US federal spending goes to the US military. That is simply not accurate, though some US military spending graphs may make it seem that way. So here we look at the US federal budget and show that military spending in america, while high, is not nearly that prominent.
