You can’t tell your nightmares
From the news
Stacking bodies in ICUs
Cuz there’s not enough beds
Does your daughter feel warm...
Or is it in your head?
You take her to get looked at
Drive through the eerily empty
dystopian dream
And, you feel lost...
As the doctor prescribes her quarantine
They shut down all the schools
And all the children scattered
They’re enacting laws pro tempor
We are not allowed to gather
They want us to maintain “social distance”
And enter our homes without resistance
To give us the cure
And you open your eyes
to the signs you ignored
But it’s too late
And your consciousness goes as you’re
dragged out your door...
We can’t just go out whenever we want
We wear masks, it hangs in the air
Like swarms of mosquitoes
in malarial swamps
And the drones crowd the lights
as curfew starts
They are like moths
You won’t see the war end
but the battle
is lost
Control is with chips
in little incisions
Reduce the soul to algorithms
But we are safe
