A 23-year-old male Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman candidate in Davao City died after he suffered a cardiac arrest while playing basketball.

In a report by RGil Relator of GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on GMA News "Saksi" this Friday, the deceased was identified as Philip Saladio Jr., a resident of Barangay Tawan-tawan.

Saladio was playing in a basketball league that was part of the Malagos Barangay Day celebration when the unexpected happened.

In the shot of the CCTV camera, Saladio can be seen suddenly kneeling and falling to the floor after passing the ball.

The game was immediately stopped to check on the unconscious Saladio. He was rushed to the hospital but died due to cardiac arrest.

Saladio's parents were watching at that moment, not expecting what happened to their son because they didn't know he was sick.

"I didn't come right away because I thought I might have stumbled," said the mother, Melanie.

Although not yet SK chairman, Saladio's father, Philip Sr., said that his son has done and helped a lot in their barangay. -- FRJ, GMA Integrated News
