Transferred from 78rpm Decca 27334 - Till I Met You (Willson) by Meredith Willson & his Orchestra and Eileen Wilson, recorded October 25, 1950
When Meredith Willson was creating his highly successful 1957 play “The Music Man,” he didn’t have to invent a brand new love song, as this hardly-remembered ballad of his from seven years earlier filled the bill nicely and required only a minor change in title and lyric. Willson himself conducted this lovely commercially-issued recording which featured current “Your Hit Parade” vocalist Eileen Wilson (no relation). The first bona fide hit single of the tune was by Anita Bryant in 1959, way before The Beatles covered it.
