President Trump Signs Infrastructure Security Bill & Takes Questions From Media 11/16/18
President Donald Trump says he’s taking Robert Mueller‘s probe personally.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said that the reason he’s treating the Mueller investigation as a personal affront is because he believes it’s a winning tactic.
“They should have never had it,” Trump said of the investigation. “They’ve wasted millions and millions of dollars. There should have never been a so-called investigation. Which in theory it’s not an investigation of me, but as far as I’m concerned, I like to take everything personally because you do better that way. The witch hunt, as I call it, should never have taken place.”
Trump’s rambling then turned to the questions from Mueller when a reporter asked if the president’s lawyers were writing answers.
“My lawyers aren’t working on that. I’m working on that. I write answers,” Trump said. “My lawyers don’t write answers. I answered the questions very easily. Very easily. I’m sure they are tricked up because you know they like to catch people. ‘Gee, was the weather sunny or was it rainy? He said it may have been a good day. It was rainy and he therefore told a lie and perjured himself.’ Okay, so you have to be careful with people who probably have bad intentions. No, it’s, the questions were very routinely answered by me. By me. Okay?”
Trump added that he “just finished” the questions but has yet to submit them to the special counsel. When President Trump was asked to respond to the lawsuit, he spoke of the need for decorum while saying the media was “treated unfairly” because of Acosta’s questioning. He ended up taking more shots at Acosta as well and said he and his representatives might get up and walk away in the future if they feel they aren’t treated properly.
“People have to behave and we are writing up rules and regulations. If they don’t listen to the rules and regulations, we will end up back in court and we will win. More importantly, we will just leave. Then you won’t be very happy. We do get good ratings…You can’t take three or four questions and stand up and not sit down. You were there and you understand. We want total freedom of the press. That’s very important. More important to me than anybody would believe. You have to act with respect in the White House. When I see the way my people get treated, it’s terrible.”
