Most Poeple are Underwhelming Their Dogs - Jeff Gellman Seminars

Every client I have ever worked with on remote collars has never gone above a specific number because they were always told not to, or they are just simply afraid to. I work with clients who have been trying to stop nonsense behaviors or proof their dogs recall around high distraction, and they can’t seem to figure out why it’s not working. More times than not it’s because they are nagging their dog. The dog does not perceive the level of the remote as an actual punisher, so it’s just continuing its usual nonsense behavior. Of course! Because you have not yet reached a level that told the dog that it’s choice is unacceptable. Dog owners are not and will not hurt their dogs because of this fact alone: they’re afraid to. Once they learn to understand the remote and that the dog actually controls it, (we don’t!) the whole game changes. Most folks don’t need an e collar or prong collar to abuse their dog. If someone truly wanted to harm their pet dog, they would—and they would do it without buying a $200 piece of equipment. I believe most dog owners have massive compassion and love for their dogs, and they are not and will not intentionally do something that causes harm. Dog owners just want to do MORE with their dogs, and bad behavior usually gets in the way of that.
