WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO GOVERN OUR OWN COUNTRY

THAT’S NOT FUNNY

Upon foreign fields and distant lands
Our nation held its own
We stood against the crown
And tyrants on the throne

Side by side the common man
Throughout our nations past
We’ve had to fight against liberties
And a freedom that would last

We plebs were force to poverty
For the nation was in need
Equality was the promise
With nothing in the seed

We sat when Thatcher burned the unions
And the poll tax slapped us all
And the state took greed to extremities
And we watched our nation fall

The only game in town
Was poverty or greed
And individual riches
Went way past “ever need"

Then came in laws to stop the strikes
Public order bill as well
A thousand anti terror laws
And then financial hell

But not a banker brought to book
And who got all the money
Not a politician in our courts
We’re slaves and that’s not funny
