Feudal Japan, Keian Era (1648) The Shogun Iemitsu has passed away leaving a Power Vacuum causing the former Retainers of the Shogun (The Iga Ninja) to be disgraced, betrayed & ousted from their position. The Kouga Ninja now hold the former position of Iga serving the Shogun & seek to eliminate the last of the fallen Iga Ninja. Hattori Hanzo head of the Iga is still loyal to the Shogun despite his position & has to navigate being true to his loyalty & keeping his clan alive.
