This is just one measure, albeit a very simple one, which is utilized by those in power to convey their ideas.
I'll add here as a corollary a thought which I only tangentially touched upon in the video, and that is that the more synonyms a language has, the more prone it may be to accepting modern "liberal" ideas. I haven't done a ton of thinking on this idea, but it does seem to roughly align with reality - i.e. countries with more restrictive languages (china, russia, japan) tend towards traditionalism, while the more flexible languages, because they allow for the use of thesaurus arguments described in the video, tend towards modern destructive ideas.
