The waggon was driverless and was derailed in a controlled manner. Nobody was injured. Construction workers discovered smoke on the train and first tried to extinguish it themselves. For safety, they uncoupled the burning part from the rest of the train. Then somehow the brakes came loose and the wagon started rolling. The workers tried to follow the wagon with another train but could not stop it. The waggon was then derailed in a controlled manner in Öhringen station and could be extinguished.
