“And only then, when this entire German people becomes a united community of sacrifice. Then alone can we expect - can we hope – that providence will grant us assistance in the future. The Almighty has never helped a lazy man. He does not help the coward. He does not help a people that cannot help themselves. Here the same principle applies. People - Help Yourselves! And the Almighty cannot deny you his assistance!”

“And with all of these peoples we would forge a new community. That was the task we once undertook as National Socialists. The task that is much clearer to us now than it was before. I will return again after this war, again with my old party program, whose realization is more important to me now than perhaps it did upon the first day.”

“This realization, which brought me here today, and the German people as to say, and the Winterhilfswerk has again the opportunity to exercise the spirit of this community. There is no true way of repaying the Front for its sacrifices. But the accomplishments of the Homeland will likewise stand the test of history. It is necessary that the soldier upon the Front must know that everyone who stays behind will be taken care of by the Homeland and that it will take care of him to the best of its abilities. That, he must know. And that is how it must be, so that later the Homeland can be mentioned in relationship to the great achievements upon The Front. Everyone knows what they must do in this time. Every woman, every man – they know, what is rightfully asked of them and what they are obliged to give. And if at any time you are walking the street and should have any doubts as to whether you should give something more, then turn your gaze sideways and perhaps you will see someone who has given more so much more for Germany than you have.”

“It is my belief that this imposes upon us only one duty, namely, to strive further for our National Socialist ideals. We must realize one thing clearly. When this war is over, it is the German soldier who will have won it. He who has come from the farms and from the factories, who truly represents the mass of our people. It will have been won by the Homefront. By the millions of men and women. The workers and the farmers. It will have been won by the creative men in the offices and the professions. All of these active people. They will have won it. For and for all these people they must know, that this new state will be made for them.”
(roaring applause)
“Today, the National Socialist community of peoples goes to the Front. And you will see how these armed forces become more and more National Socialist month to month. How they constantly take on more and more the imprint of our new Germany. How all privileges and class prejudices are being eliminated more and more. How here the German community of people becomes more dominant month to month and how at the end of this war, the German community of peoples will have proven itself most in this war. This is what distinguishes the present Germany from the Germany of that time.”
(slow rolling applause)
“This we owe to the immeasurable heroism of the Front. The heroism of millions of Iron Soldiers - known and unknown. The heroism of tens and tens of thousands of brave officers who today feel themselves more and more in closer community with their men. They have in part come from these men. They have in fact put aside all obstacles. Just as it is in the party. Anybody can reach any position if they are capable. And just as the poorest child of our people can aspire to any government position, even the highest one. Ever since this party has taken leadership. And it is the same in the armed forces. What is being achieved here, on the land and in the cities, by men, and above all by the innumerable women, it is tremendous. I talk only rarely now to the movement and to my own German people. All I can say for a speech is one thing alone. Think, INCESSANTLY, men and women. That in this war, it will decide the “to be or not to be” of our people. For when you do understand that. Then every one of your thoughts and every one of your actions, all of that will be one single prayer for our Germany.”
