In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus reminds us that true piety lies in focusing on internal transformation rather than outward displays (Matthew 6:16-17). This message is a powerful reminder to be mindful of our motivations.
"Therefore, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward in full. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you" (Matthew 6:16-18).
This passage reminds us that true faith comes from within, not from external appearances. Let's focus on "genuine virtue" rather than"virtue signalling" and "internal transformation" rather than external approbation in our actions, and strive to live a life that is pleasing to God.
Are our actions driven by a genuine desire to help others, or are we seeking external validation? Let's cultivate a deeper sense of purpose and integrity in our endeavors.
Let us seek to DO Good and BE good, rather than to look Good
