UNIT Popular Capitalism
There is a ridiculous amount of utter balderdash bleated by loony lefties and silly socialists about the ‘evils’ of capitalism. They regard anyone able to make a financial profit from their own endeavours as reprehensible, little more than a war criminal. This is because such critics are so totally useless at making money, they want to castigate anyone who displays success in this field.
I have no time for idiots and buffoons who whinge about ‘love’ and ‘non-profit making firms’. If a firm doesn’t make a profit then it goes out of business, their employees are made redundant and that’s all there is to it. The title of the piece (first recorded in 2009 and issued on Musik Als Globale Waffe with truly horrendous results, for much of which I must be held culpable) is derived from a book by Tory MP John Redwood. The title is so preposterous I knew I had to use it! Of course, national currencies have long since been replaced with the ubiquitous Euro...a fate the British refused to tolerate, bless ‘em. That’s the island mentality for you: beefeaters belching in the cloisters, messing tights, watching Match Of The Day...on a raft with sharks circling.
The feel of the Franc in a big Swiss bank is definitely what I’m worth
and the lure of the Lira only brings me nearer to a perfect heaven on Earth.
The shine on a Schilling is more fulfilling than any religion you choose,
for the Yankee Dollar, not a clerical collar, is the faith all people use.
The worlds’ affairs in stocks and shares must never let the market crash;
there’s money to be made so let’s be paid in plenty of hard cash.
The power of the Pound has a marvellous sound, especially in ones’ pockets,
while a billion Yen builds all our men computers, schools and rockets.
The rattle of the Rupee and a million or two p gives me jitters of joy
and a barrel of Yuan in a bullet proof van is even better than a Chinese boy.
Why waste your days in a love lorn haze with an unrequited romance?
There’s money to be made when we all trade in a world of global finance.
