I need to rebuild the steady rest for my lathe in order to work on an upcoming job, and the first part I need to make isn't a part for the steady rest at all, but a thread plug gage for one of the parts I DO need to make. I had a number of mishaps along the way, and trust me, this won't be the last of them. However cuntish fate may be, this is my machine shop, I am IN MY ELEMENT, and I will not be stopped.
