Socks.... yeah I know they are boring. But without them your feet will get tore up, covered with blisters, and you can't stay ahead of the enemy. First, DO NOT GET WHITE COTTON SOCKS! They don't last long and are meant to be replace often. Get military issue or hunting socks. Test them out to make sure they will last. Second, do not get dress socks even if they are military issue. They are too thin. I have heard of people using dress socks as liners in their regular socks during long road marches to prevent blisters. But when I tried it they didn't help. Make sure to have enough socks in your ruck and on your gear so you can change your socks to help prevent blisters.
