The construct of race was created in the United States by slave traders who wished to create a paradigm that was easily manipulated. Prior to the 17th century, there is no mention of "race" as it pertains to the color of an individual's skin tone. American author, Thomas Sowell, has studied slavery, both here in the U.S. and abroad, and very simply discredits the notion that most blacks in America are the descendants of African slaves.
