I was immediately prompted to make this project within 48 hours of realizing this: The last podcast I did with the One Great Work Warriors delved into the book Ismael, which I later remarked, almost lamenting after re-listening to one of the dopest albums to come out of San Jose which featured 2 songs on there titled Ismael. And knowing these cats, I was already envisioning mixing something up to the tune of what was spoken about in that podcast, as it went really well with what those brothers were rapping about in the late 90's-early 2000's. I love how these messages resurface in such synchronistic fashion sometimes for me, so I gotta digitally document that with some audio visual spiritual lyrical ritual, which is a bit dark in this effort due to the magnitude of ecocide committed by humans across the planet. Ecocide, you know, like genocide but upon all forms of life including what we can't see with the naked eye or even thru a microscope at times. Those who know realize that we have a choice on a daily basis as to what we support and give consent to or not.. Sometimes it's hard to tell since the system is so insidious and embedded in a long line of generational conditioning that many just can't see or feel beyond the base senses.
Much respect to Definite Juice, the artist behind this album, but also to the producers and the other featured lyricists- those Bay Area hip hop connections are so magical, y'all inspire me beyond words.. Werd!
Songs from his album in their entirety:
Imael pt 1 & 2, Agriculture
Snippets featuring Fast Pace Nation and a few others
I've mixed over half of this album over the past 8 years in as many projects at least, and here's another one.. If anyone knows more about this artist and if there's more albums besides this, let me know.. I feel like he was in the group Animal Pharm, but I can't confirm that
