S.O.T.E. - Shadow of the Evil (1993, C64)

S.O.T.E. - Shadow of the Evil (also know as S.O.T.E. - Der Schatten des Bösen (Harcons Fluch) ) is dungeon-crawling RPG made by Hungarian developer Ultraforce. It won the title "Program of the Month" of German magazine 64'er. The game was released on the disk of the magazine in late 1993, while the developers won a prize money of 4000 DM. The game offers three languages to choose from, English, German and Hungarian.
You play a guy called Troy Perkins whose girlfriend Eve disappears when a storm surprises them during a walk on the beach. Troy has a vision about Eve being taken away by an evil force and that he only can save her if he can solve the mysteries of a nearby castle.
The game is played from a first person perspective, and you have your typical fieldwise movement with 90 degree turns. However, you are also able to look up and down. Combat is turn-based. You don't see enemies moving around in the dungeons, but I'm not sure if encounters are at random. During combat, you also have the choice between different way of attacking, like in Interplay's Dragon wars.
