When it comes to Hollywood, the Chinese audience is the most coveted of markets. Their 1 billion-citizen population and the allowing of foreign films into the market has put dollar signs into the eyes of every globalist Hollywood producer out there. And yet, the Chinese audience doesn't seem to like or even care for the Star Wars franchise (despite a majority of merchandise being manufactured there). This is because of the lack of Star Wars films during the 1980's (where they were not allowed into the Communist country) and a rejection of the baizuo-esque trappings of the Disney sequel trilogy. As a result, Disney has been sinking money into a country that flat-out refuses their product.
